AIC GETS HALAL CERTIFIED
After intensive preparations comprised of staff awareness, systems review and both internal and external audits, AIC was finally granted a Halal Certification by the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC) last 10 February 2011.
This certifies that the AIC facility is Halal as per required standard and the EIASC will continually conduct necessary inspections to ensure maintenance and implementation of the Halal standards across the company.

Purchasing and Stores Manager.
Reporting directly to the COO, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible in developing and implementing purchasing and warehousing strategies and policies, negotiation and administration of purchasing contracts and management of warehouse and inventory ensuring supply availability in compliance to international standards.
The qualified candidate must possess approximately 5 years hands on experience preferably in the airline catering industry, be team oriented with the ability to work independently and the ability to act with a sense of urgency. Must possess the ability to coordinate all activities to ensure smooth and efficient running of operations. Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential. Must be able to train subordinates; HACCP experience is an advantage.

NEW ORGANIZATION AND APPOINTMENTS AT AIC
With effect from 1st July 2010 we are pleased to announce the following changes in AIC’s overall organizational structure. These changes are brought about by management’s plan to strengthen its focus primarily in the following two areas;
1. The Market; In anticipation of further business growth, to better accommodate current and future customer requirements. To become the uncontested preferred caterer and service provider in the African market.
2. The Internal Organization; To better capture synergies and develop skills and competencies with a high degree of empowerment and individual responsibilities. To establish a distinct Support Team that will back up and sustain the company’s core activities.
The following appointments have been done to support the new organization and the company’s vision, all effective 1st July 2010.
Makeda Yohannes, Assistant Deputy General Manager, Sales & Customer Services. Makeda is an AIC veteran since its inception in 2007. She will form and lead a new Sales & Customer Services Department including accounts management, events, sales administration, pricing, statistics and customer services.

Ruben “JB” Bueno, Finance and Administration Manager. JB will lead the Finance and Administration Department with all critical support services including HRD/Training, Hygiene & QA, Maintenance, IT and Accounting. JB comes armed with 13 years of airline catering experience in various top positions. He is a microbiologist, an MBA & Master in Technology Management degree holder and has a Diploma in Organizational Development.

Hermann Michel, Executive Sous Chef. Hermann, a well known industry professional, is joining AIC in this critical function with the main objective to drive and oversee culinary and personnel development in the Production Department.

AIC's CLEANING DIVISION GROWS
Emirates has awarded its aircraft interior cleaning requirements to AIC for its two daily transit flights passing through Addis Ababa.

EMIRATES HAS APPOINTED AIC FOR CATERING UPLIFT EX ADDIS ABABA
Emirates started uplifting its meal requirements for two daily flights last 15th March from Addis International Catering. The first daily departure is return catered to Entebbe serving snacks both ways, while the second flight offers a full dinner service from Addis Ababa to Dubai. Emirates operates the ultramodern B777ER, three class service on this route.

EGYPT AIR TEAMS UP WITH AIC
At a luncheon today at AIC’s premises Egyptair announced that it will source all Crew Meals for its cargo flights, with immediate effect, from Addis International Catering. Seven cycles of hot dinner, distinctly developed for Egypt Air is being offered.

SAUDIA LAUNCH CLIENT WHEN AIC’S AIRCRAFT CLEANING DIVISION TAKES OFF
Last Saturday, 23rd of January, the plans and vision of AIC’s Aircraft Cleaning Division were finally materialized. Saudi Arabian Airlines was the launch customer with whom AIC has entered a three year contract for aircraft interior cleaning. Thanks to careful planning, extensive training and a dedicated and motivated Team, the start went off successfully. As Kamal Amarasinghe, AIC’s Operations Manager and Project Manager for Cleaning Division said – “With this strategic launch, AIC is now geared to and prepared to take on and serve other airlines with a professional approach, a smile and with the latest in cleaning technology.” Indeed Kamal is right as there are already several airlines that have shown keen interest to join the AIC Cleaning Division family.

NEW MANAGEMENT AT ADDIS
On September 1st, we are pleased to be welcoming Mr Tomas Jämtander as the new Chief Operating Officer at Addis International Catering. Tomas comes in to take over from Mr Hamish Ledingham who has been in the position since the beginning of the pre-construction period and has overseen the entire successful start-up of Addis International Catering. There will be a hand-over period during September after which Hamish Ledingham will stay on with the Addis Team as Consultant on various other projects. Hamish Ledingham was previously with Bahrain Airport Services and Gulf Air. His efforts have, with the support of his dedicated staff from Ethiopia and beyond, resulted in the creation of Africa's most modern and advanced flight catering facility. Tomas Jämtander joins us bringing a wealth of experience to Addis International Catering and was previously Vice President Operations with Oberoi Flight Services and General Manager at Macroasia Catering Services in Manila, Philippines, for 9 years.

ADDIS CATERING - CATERS TO AFRICA'S LEADERS
At the recent Heads of State meetings held in Addis Ababa, ADDIS INTERNATIONAL CATERING was pleased and honoured to entertain the First Ladies of the visiting leaders to a lunch at the facility. The menu was of the highest standards and showed the skills and quality achievable by the catering. There was excellent feedback and the lunch greatly impressed the visitors. In addition to the lunch, Addis Catering provided catering to the VIP flights as the meetings concluded and the leaders returned to their countries. This was a very busy period and thanks to the excellent resources - including 9 brand new high-loaders, Addis Catering was able to meet the full demands satisfactorily.

ADDIS CATERING WELCOMES KLM AS ITS LAUNCH CUSTOMER
October 28th 2008 was an historic moment in for Addis International Catering as it uplifted its first commercial flight to KLM. The nonstop flight ADD-AMS was delivered without incident and KLM's own Cees van der Lelie was on hand to oversee the process which was supervised by Addis Catering's Operations Manager Kamal Amarasinghe. Mr van der Lelie was delighted with the quality and service and Addis International Catering is proud to have KLM as its launch customer. DGM Mr Hamish Ledingham commented on the great efforts made by all the team in achieving this success in a very challenging environment.
